Measurement & Analytical Science

Measurement & Analytical Science Measurement and Analytical Science 2

Measurement and Analytical Science is the use of physical, chemical, and biological techniques and methods to characterize and understand the composition, structure and performance of materials, chemical products and processes.

A Measurement and Analytical Science Strategic Research Group (SRG) has been established within the Specialty Chemicals Business Area. It performs longer range, strategic research for both the Specialty Chemicals and coatings business areas.

The focus of the SRG is on the:
  • elucidation of the composition and structures of small molecules, polymers, particles, complex mixtures and formulated products;
  • analysis of the composition, structure and morphology of surfaces and the interfaces between coatings and substrates;
  • characterization of the bulk properties of materials;
  • in- and at-line process analysis for quality assurance (QA).
